Nvidia Geforce GTX 670

The most awaited sibling of the 680 is finally here. Yes, Nvidia has finally unveiled the successor to the 570. The newest member of the Kepler family has one less SMX unit than its elder brother .So there are 7 SMX units,1344 CUDA cores and 112 texture units. Everything else is left intact including the 256 bit memory interface and 2GB GDDR5 memory. They have even left the memory clock at 680's 1502Mhz. However they clocked the base clock at 915MHz and the boost clock at 980Mhz. The reference card is only 9.5" long but the actual PCB is even smaller at 6.75". Its ridiculously small as you can see in the picture below

Display outputs are also the same as that of the 680 with two dual link DVIs a Display port and an HDMI port and yes it supports Nvidia surround also. The card has a maximum power draw of 170W from a pair of six pin connectors , which is pretty good for a high end card. You can see that Nvidia has not cut down the card from the 680 much like the 570.

So is this card any good ? How does it compare to its predecessor the 570 ? How does it match upto the 680 ?  I know all these questions are loitering around in your mind right now. And the biggest question of all, how much does it cost? OK for all these to be answered I need to actually review the card, and obviously i cant do that right now. But keep supporting the blog and maybe one day I will be able to do that too for you guys. Anyways from all the reviews that I've read , I can tell you that the GTX 670 is not that far behind the 680 in terms of performance. Infact its a little too close. Its A whole lot faster than the card its replacing, the 570 and even the 580 for that matter. It kicks the 7950,its main competition out of the water and even challenges the 7970(Beats it in some games). Its only almost 5-10 fps slower than the 680 in most games and in some games its as fast as the 680. OK, now for the price. The card costs roughly 399$ at launch. What this means is that you get 95% of the performance of the fastest card in the world for 100$ less. Now isn't that sweet?

Samsung Galaxy S3

The Current Leaders in the mobile Industry unveiled their newest and most anticipated addition to the galaxy series phones, the galaxy s3 . The Phone is the successor to the samsung galaxy s2 which was considered to be the best android smartphone ever. OK. lets go to the specs of the phone. The Phone sports a 4.8 inch 720*1280 pixels super Amoled display which equates to a pixel density of 306ppi . It has an Exynos quad core processor clocked at 1.4Ghz with a Mali400 Gpu. The phone is fairly light at only 130 grams its also fairly thin at 8.6mm . Now samsung has stated that the design is inspired by nature and i think it more or less resembles a pebble, a really flat one of-course. The phone is available in two colors namely Pebble blue and Marble white (No black ?) . The phone also packs in an 8MP shooter with backside illumination and features zero shutter lag just like the one on the HTC one x .There is also one 1.9mp front facing camera .The phone undoubtedly runs on android 4.0 ics and gives you ample ram to play with at 1GB. It also has the common connectivity features like WiFi, 3g, 4g(in selected countries) etc. It even comes with a feature known as "S Beam". Its like NFC but only slower. Samsung also has voice recognition built-in called "S Voice" . OK, now all that looks impressive and i think it has the potential to be the true successor of the iconic galaxy s2 . Lets wait and find out.

Intel Ivy bridge

The Ivy bridge has finally arrived. It is the tick in the intel roadmap which was preceded by the oh-so successful sandybridge architecture.Ivy bridge is the 22nm die shrink of the sandybridge than an architecture change. So basically what you get is better thermal efficiency and lower power consumption . Performance is also better than their sandybridge counterparts . It features a new and improved onboard graphics capable of providing much better performance than the previous generation chips. The onboard DX11 supported hd4000 graphics is now capable of competing with the likes of AMD's fusion line up . Intel has launched a total of 10 desktop and 7 mobile processors in total of which the core i7 3770k tops the charts. As you would have guessed its a fully unlocked quad core processor with hyperthreading. Intel also launched tow more variants of the processor , S which stands for slightly better power consumption and lower clock speeds and T which stands for even lower power consumption for optimum energy savings. The new cpus have excellent overclocking capabilities with most of the reviewers achieving around 5GHz on air cooling. But let me remind you that this comes at the cost of extremely high temperatures hovering around the 90 degree mark. Let me tell something about the platform also. The Z77 platform is the performance and enthusiast oriented platform designed for the ivy bridge chips. Its somewhat similar to the Z68's we had last year . The major difference is the PCIe 3.0 support and native USB3.0 support. But other than that the new platform does not bring anything new to the table . So is ivy bridge an excellent buy ? Yes and no. Yes , if you are still on the 775 and the 1355 platform or you need to jump the boat from AMD . No, if you already own a sandybridge processor because according to reports their is only a slight performance difference and PCIe 3.0 is not really going to bother you yet. So that's it, Intel has delivered another great processor with the launch of ivy. It leaves me thinking, where are you AMD ?

Here is a glimpse of the processors.

Nvidia Geforce GTX 680

Nvidia has launched its new flagship Gpu ,the geforce GTX 680 . The card is based on a polished Fermi architecture , GK104 . It has 1536 stream processors ,that is thrice the number found on its predecessor, the GTX 580. It also boasts of 128 texture units and 32 ROPs .The core is clocked at slightly more than one Ghz , yeah thats 1 GHz, at 1006 MHz. It also has a boost clock. It basically works like Intel's turboboost. That is the gpu automatically overclocks itself to a higher clock speed as and when it is required. It comes with 2GB of GDRR5 memory clocked at 6GHz which connects through a 256 bit wide bus. The card now supports multiple displays. Which was an AMD only novelty till now. With this card 3+1 monitors can now be set up in Nvidia surround . It is also cooler and a whole lot quieter than the previous gen card and draws power from 2 PCIe power connectors. It has HDMI , DVI and display port outputs.

The All New iPad.

After endless speculations Apple have launched the 3rd generation of their tablet , the all new ipad .
Now that's what apple calls it, not ipad 3 or ipad HD only the "New iPad". Anyways , the new iPad comes with a retina display boasting of 2048 x 1536 pixels . That's more pixels than your full HD LCD tv packed into a space smaller than 10 inches. Without a doubt the screen is absolutely amazing with the increased pixel count. Individual pixels cannot be distinguished anymore. The colour gamut has also improved.
Apple has obviously changed the processor of the tablet. It now has the new A5X processor with quad graphics to render all that additional pixels. Apple claims it performs 4X better than Nvidia's Tegra 3 chipset. Another change is the new 5mp primary camera that can record videos in full HD 1080p resolution. The front camera remains relatively unchanged. Dimension wise the new iPad has'nt changed a lot. Its heavier at 662g (ipad2 is 601g) and .6mm thicker. Not so much so that you will notice. But deviating from Apple's typical way of making the everything thinner and lighter. The tablet also has 4G+LTE connectivity. Apple also claims that the new tablet has 10 hrs of battery life. Now with the new iPad Apple has improved upon its existing tablet . But it cannot be called as revolutionary in any way . As we are accustomed to calling Apple products. Its in no way less innovative either. We will  just have to wait and see how this tablet manages to win the market.
